Despite its simple appearance and functionality, Songview can be quite useful for the purpose it serves. It can be used to write down and display song lyrics verse by verse, which is suitable for jam sessions or other similar events. The application's controls are straightforward and easy to master, so nothing will get in your way. What's more, the software can be used with a Bluetooth pedal or hooked up to a projector.

Songview is distributed as a freeware application, but donations are still welcomed. It works with all popular Windows versions. The software is lightweight, so it should take only a few seconds to download its setup file and to install its components, even on older computers, with modest hardware.

The software provides a large user interface with large chunky buttons, which are very easy to spot. Songs can be saved in a column, on the left side of the window and you can view a selected item's lyrics in the larger area on the right. Each verse is displayed on its own page and you can go forwards or backwards through the pages with different navigation buttons.

Songs can be edited on a separate window. It is similar to the main interface, but it presents options for saving new songs, deleting or renaming existing ones, printing them and so on. You can type or paste a song's lyrics just like in a plain text editor. All verses can be inserted in the same editing area and separated with special characters, so they would be separated on different pages. Furthermore, all songs are saved as TXT files in a local folder, and you can retrieve them from the editing window, if you wish to share them or take them with you.

Pros

The application is straightforward and easy to use. It gives you full control over a song's lyrics. It is offered free of charge and it can be installed quickly.

Cons

A search function for the songs list would be a welcomed addition. Jamming sessions can go much smoother when using Songview.
